POSITION SUMMARY
The Incumbent in this position will be responsible for manufacturing close tolerance machined parts utilizing mostly CNC Lathes. Incumbent will also be responsible for doing setups and preparing materials for use in the machine shop as well as providing assistance to machine shop personnel when needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Understands how to read and interpret blueprints, work Instruction and engineering specifications.
? Fabricates parts, with little to no supervision, by locating reference points on work piece, positioning or aligning work piece against stops and guides.
? Maintains specifications by observing operations; detecting malfunctions; inspecting parts; adjusting controls; replacing inserts and cutters.
? Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
? Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance by following manufacturer?s instructions and troubleshooting malfunctions when they occur.
? Must own machinist tools for inspection of production parts to close tolerance and hand tools necessary for securing chucks vices and tooling.
? Cleans and maintain work area.
? Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
? At the least 10 years? experience working in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
? Basic skills and knowledge using tools for manufacturing such as drill press lathe, and mill, vertical or horizontal cut off saw.
? Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills are required.
? Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of form fit and function of manufactured close tolerance machined parts.
? Experience in checking machined parts with precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers and height gage.
? Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
? Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand at the machine he/she will operate for long periods of time throughout the day. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted. Specific visual acuity is required by this job when measuring parts during and after the machining process.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to low. As with most manufacturing jobs, it is difficult to remain clean during the workday. Therefore, the incumbent must expect to become dirty on a daily basis including hands and clothing at a minimum. Steel toed shoes and safety glasses are required in order to perform this job safely. The employee will be working on a machine with moving parts that either cut, mill, or grind steel during the manufacturing process. Mental alertness is of utmost importance when performing this job. Loose clothing and jewelry are not permitted and long hair must be worn up and concealed.
